How much are my library overdue fines?

Answer

Generally, we charge 10 cents per day for overdue books, and 25 cents per day for media items. If items remain unreturned for two weeks (fourteen days), overdue fines stop accruing and a Business Office hold will be placed on the user's account. So the maximum will be $1.40 and $3.50 respectively, imposed for overdue fees though borrowing privileges will be suspended (until the item is returned or replacement paid).

Fines for overdue equipment (laptops) are 50 cents per hour it is overdue. Currently, we do not have a cap on the limit for equipment, so it is best to return these items when they are due, allowing others an opportunity to use them.

For items in Course Reserves, we charge 25 cents per hour for two days (regardless of format), with a cap of $12.00.

It is the user's responsibility to return overdue items to avoid accruing fines. Users can either check their library account and/or monitor their emails for courtesy, overdue, and lost billing notices.
