Why do I keep getting routed to ILL?

Answer

If you are consistently getting routed to our ILL request page, there a a couple reasons for this.

First, our Discovery Search contains many bibliographic records to items that we may not subscribe to.  We include these records from content providers to help users concentrate their research without having to search between external sites.

However, if you use the Full Text Limiter (which indicates we have access to content) and are redirected to the ILL request form, there could be a couple of reasons for this.

  • Content might be very recent (current year), which is often not included in our subscriptions. While we may have access to the majority of issues, the most recent year is often excluded (also known as an embargo).
  • There could be an error with the record indicating licensed access when there is none.  In that case, we encourage you to use the report a problem link in the Access Options dropdown.  Library staff will investigate and follow up with users experiencing this.
